I think I’ve seriously forgotten how to smile for pictures.  I look awkward all the time anymore.

1 vest 2 goofyoh well, I’ll keep working on SMILING, which should be natural.

Good grief.

Love this vest, but it’s too big.  I bought it at Goodwill because I’ve been looking for a vest exactly like this for so long, and even though it was multiple sizes too big, it was $2, so I figured if I tinkered with it and messed it up, no big loss.  So I just sewed the sides a bit, but it still needs some more, I think.

3 goodShirt – Consignment (don’t remember brand) /  Vest – Lane Bryant (from Goodwill) / Jeans – Goodwill (Brand?) / Boots – Payless / Necklace, bracelet, earrings – Torrid

Yes, so I’m trying to be all crafty and stuff, and I can’t even manage to take in a vest.  Oy!

6 necklaceI am SO behind on my running, I haven’t run for weeks it seems like.  I was going to run last night, but the poor dogs have been cooped up so I took them to play instead.  And no, it’s not possible for me to run with the both of them, I can barely even manage to walk while dealing with the both of them.

They certainly had fun, but the poor things needed baths when we got home.

4 Ella 5 charlesI will do my best to go running tonight!  Although I don’t plan on running at the Color Vibe in May, I’d like to maybe run at Color Me Rad in August.  Need to get on it!

On the entertainment front, I’m currently reading Storm of Swords (3rd in Game of Thrones series,) and Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins, Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett, and unfortunately……Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris.  I’m hooked on those STUPID Sookie Stackhouse books.  They are so badly written yet I can’t stop reading them.  Why why why?  I can only assume it’s because they are part of a series, and a series is like a list, and I’m obsessed with lists and crossing items off.  Forgive me, please.  I do recommend reading the Disc World series by Terry Pratchett, he is an excellent writer, so hilarious.

I’m watching Medium and Justice League Unlimited.  Although I love Patricia Arquette, she isn’t the best actress.  I always have to cringe and laugh whenever they make her cry on the show.  But I love the girl who plays Bridget, she reminds me of some old vaudeville star.  Don’t ask why.

Also just watched Django Unchained.  Although not my favorite Tarantino film, I did like it.  I adore Tarantino and his movies.  He always has killer soundtracks, and he uses forgotten actors and it’s always a treat to see them pop up (Tom Wopat!  Lee Horsley!  Russ Tamblyn!).  Also, I think he really loves movies and always has, and I think it’s obvious in his own movies.  He always pays tribute to movies that have inspired him, and his knowledge of rare and obscure movies is incredible.  I don’t know how many film makers truly enjoy their craft, but I believe he does.

If you are curious, my favorite Tarantino movie is Kill Bill 2.  Can’t wait for the 3rd one to come out!

You know what I love (Letters U-Z)

Well, here’s the wrap up of my alphabetical loves.

I’m grouping this last bunch together, none of these letters really generate enough on their own.  You will notice a lot dedicated to vintage blogs, I can’t help it that they mostly all start with “V.”

  • Vegetables – i do like a good selection
  • Wheat Thins! – My dad used to buy boxes of these for me all the time.  He would also stock up on ketchup and dill pickles for me, and cherry tomatoes.  And pomegranates.  He was a sweetie.

  • Valley Girl – early Nicholas Cage!  And have you heard the soundtrack?  Some of the best songs on my ipod.
  • Zatoichi – I’m talking about the movies from the 1960’s, not the horrible remake they did a few years ago.

  • Where’s Wallace – Absolutely loved this book when I was a child, way before Where’s Waldo came up.  I had a nice surprise when we moved my mom into her apartment, and I found my old copy.  I love the illustrations.
  • Edith Wharton – I am always so pleasantly surprised whenever I read one of her stories and just fall in love with it.
  • A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle – love this book and one of my favorite series of all time
  • Winnie the Pooh – ’nuff said
  • Voyage of the Dawn Treader – I absolutely adore the whole Narnia series, but this is my favorite book in the series

  • West Seattle!!!!
  • Yard sales

9 to 5’ing

When I first saw this dress, it reminded me of something that Jane Fonda would wear in 9 to 5.

But once I had it on, it wasn’t very 9 to 5ish at all.

But that’s okay, I still like it.

And I got many compliments today, most of them all being something similar to “Your outfit is so bright!”

Dress – Torrid.  Tights – We Love Colors.  Boots/Necklace – Thrifted.  Hair Flower – Brenna.

Seriously, what is up with my smile?

What a mess.

When was the last time you watched 9 to 5?  It’s an awesome movie.

So, you’ve been tellin’ everybody I’ve been sleepin’ with ya, huh? Well that explains it! That’s why these people treat me like some dime-store floozy. They think I’m screwin’ the boss! Oooh, and you just love it, don’t you? It gives you some sort of cheap thrill like knockin’ over pencils and pickin’ up papers! Get your scummy hands offa me! Look I’ve been straight with you since the first day I got here, and I’ve put up with all of your pinchin’ and starin’ and chasin’ me around the desk because I need this job. But this is the last straw! Look, I’ve got a gun out there in my purse. Up until now I’ve been forgivin’ and forgettin’ because of the way I was brought up, but I’ll tell you one thing. If you ever say another word about me or make another indecent proposal, I’m gonna get that gun of mine, and I’m gonna change you from a rooster to a hen with one shot! And don’t think I can’t do it.

True Love (Letter T)

What we like about T

  • Tomatoes!

  • Spencer Tracy – a very awesome actor

  • 10,000 Maniacs – totally reminds me of high school, which isn’t always bad
  • Take a Look at Me Now by Phil Collins – one of the man’s best. Just realized I’m cheating with this one, it’s actually titled Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me now)
  • Take a Look at Me Now by Postal Service – one of the best remakes I have ever heard
  • Tempted by Squeeze – yay for the 80’s!  Yay for YouTube!
  • This American Life –  most honest, beautiful, hilarious, and crazy true stories

  • Torrid – the majority of my shopping is done here, even my wishful shopping
  • Tulle – could I get away with wearing some everyday?

The great tomato taste-off

Errands and movies

This is what I wore to run errands on Saturday.

It’s actually a little nicer than what I usually wear to run around.

Jeans/boots – Torrid.  Sweater – Fashion Bug.  Cami – Lane Bryant.  Scarf – Walgreens.  Bag – Icing.

Saturday’s errands included going to the library to pick up “Cowboys & Aliens”, grocery shopping which I hate, Pho for lunch, and looking for a teapot at Bed, Bath, & Beyond.  Exciting, I know,  I’m a jetsetter.

I also got a magnifying mirror at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.  Yikes!  Have you ever looked at yourself in one of those?

Scary!  But now I can use it every day.  I like to do weird things

So besides watching “Cowboys & Aliens”, we watched an awesome movie.  It’s called “Ghajini”, it’s an Indian/Bollywood version of “Memento.”

Yes, it sounds crazy, but I loved it.  Kind of weird, since it started out violently, then moved into a love story with singing.  Watch it, watch it now.

Also watched “Bridget Jones’ Diary” with some lovely gal friends Friday night.  Bridget always makes me laugh.

And today I’m watching “The Grapes of Wrath.”  I don’t know how I’ve never seen this, just slipped by me.  Goodness, it’s so sad, but that’s Steinbeck.  Also watched “The African Queen” last night.  I love Katherine Hepburn.

And, I just finished reading “The Exorcist.”  I was quite disappointed by the book actually.  It was more annoying than scary.

And one last picture for you
